Rachel Loshak: News

News from here... - December 16, 2011

It's been a while, I had another baby (may have mentioned that already? He's already going to 1 tomorrow!) I had a big birthday a few days ago (yes, 40, woo hoo! I'm not even going to try to pretend that I'm not just exactly what I am) and I'm starting to get started again...

I was THRILLED and honored to be invited by the incredible bass player, John Munson, to perform a song at The Current Presents The New Standards 2011 Holiday Show at The Fitzgerald Theater in Minneapolis, MN.

I performed my song Bring Us Peace to two sold out audiences with The New Standards, their backing singers and beautiful horn section joining me, as well as Morgan Taylor from Gustafer Yellowgold on acoustic guitar. It was a magical experience for me, one I'll never forget. Thank you John.

Looking forward to some more shows in 2012, a song to represent a book and a song on an album about girls and science... here I go!

Piper O'Neill video for Baby Cloud - September 28, 2011

Fun with Caspar Babypants - August 26, 2011

I am so excited to say that I sang a song - Baby Cloud - for Chris Ballew's just released kids album "Sing Along" under his other name, Caspar Babypants.

Sing Along

Out With The Kids writer, Jeff Bogle said, "Loshak makes a brilliant return to the world of recorded music on this enchanting and intoxicating lullaby to close out the best Caspar Babypants album yet."

Morgan, Harvey, Ridley and I have so much enjoyed listening to all of Chris's albums whilst on the road together (7,000 miles this summer alone!) it is often all that we listen to. You can see what it's all like here... Caspar Babypants

My friend, Gustafer... - March 18, 2006

March 23, 2005

I am proud to announce that today my new record was released in South Korea, on the label - ONLY MUSIC. I am really looking forward to having my music out in another country, so far away! And am excited to be going there in June to promote the record.
Also looking forward to the upcoming European Tour, where we'll be going to Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and the U.K.!
All the best,
Rachel

I have had a busy few months, and had some pretty exciting experiences recently.
Performing at Irving Plaza was wonderful, with such a great audience, and among such great musicians, it really was an honor. We also raised over $50,000 for Jason and his family, which is helping to pay his hospital bills at the moment.
I also performed a few songs with Moby at a Tsunami benefit a little while ago, which again, was a great experience!
I'm going to be going to Europe again in April, with shows in Germany, Scandinavia, England and Ireland, and maybe more...
In the meantime, I have some nice shows coming up in March - including a big Easter Egg Hunt spectacular on March 25th! (with English chocolate Easter Eggs).
best,
Rachel

A second concert has been put together in order to raise money to help Jason and his family bear the costs of his hospital bills and other expenses, for now and in the future. Jason has been working really hard in his recovery and is doing well, but there is still a journey ahead of him, and we want to help him in any way we can. I'm currently in Ireland, enjoying a great tour - the people here are SO great, generous, and kind. It's really wonderful to be here.
I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Christmas, and New Year.

For those who attended the concert for Jason on October 7th, and to those who made such generous donations, thank you so much. We were able to raise around $15,000 in order to help him and his family as he recovers, which he is doing, and doing very well. I hope he'll be back soon!
love, Rachel.
http:www.bossycat.com/jason is still there for people who would still like to contribute.

"PEACH PONY" is nearly here... it started it's journey here at home, but has travelled far and wide to find it's place in the world from which to graze and grow. It has made it's way to cooler climbs - to Denmark, where it will run loose on October 25th. Hopefully this will be followed shortly thereafter by releases in the U.K. and the U.S.
Keep your ears to the ground, listening for the thud of it's hooves.

For those of you who have heard me play over the past 5 years with my guitarist, Jason Crigler, and will know the magic that he casts over my music, you may have also heard that he was recently hospitalized with a bleeding in his brain due to an undiscovered congenital condition. He is on the road to recovery, and is expected to make a full recovery. Before he fell ill, he had recently released his debut cd of his own, after adding immeasurably to everyone else's music! To show your support for him during this time, please go to http://www.jasoncrigler.com and purchase his cd. It is an incredible record, by an incredible musician and person.

So much going on...

We had a great trip to Europe over Memorial day weekend, playing shows in London then going on to tour Denmark. We had a great time, and will be releasing the new record there in the fall, as well as touring there again in November.

We are still working on the new record, which WILL be entitled "Peach Pony", there, I said it. Hope to have it ready by the end of the summer. We're just trying to make it as good as it can be, so we're taking our time this time!

All the best,
Rachel.

March 8, 2004

Hey Everyone, I just got back from my third visit to Ireland. Thanks to everyone there who came out to see me, I enjoyed it so much. I'll be back again hopefully in July. Looking forward now to finishing my new record and all the shows coming up in the spring. Cheers, Rachel.

February 6, 2004

So, I've been busy with the new recording, that is going very well. I don't know when it will be ready for release, but will let everyone know when it is. I was honored to record a duet with Norah Jones for this record, it was great to sing with her, and I can't wait for people to listen to what we did.
I will be going to Ireland again, from March 1st - March 6th, doing five shows this time, and looking forward to having a great time again!
My next show on February 18th, will be a good one to come to. I'll be playing with Jason and Dan as usual, and Tim Luntzel with be joining us to share the bass with me. Also, Kate Fenner, who I love, is playing before me, so it will be a great night.
All the best! Rachel.

December 15, 2003

The Christmas show at the Living Room this Friday night, is going to be the last chance for a while to come hear me play in New York. I'm going to be taking some time off to gather myself, and record a new record, with some new special guests... I will keep you informed of the progress!
Happy Christmas and New Year!

November 3, 2003

Ok, so November is turning out to be very exciting... on November 16th, I will be performing solo, as the special guest of Jimmy Gnecco from OURS, who is doing a solo acoustic show, at Sin-e. Go to http://www.sin-e.org to get tickets quick! Then I'm off across the deep blue sea to Ireland, and when I get back I'm going down to Philadelphia to open for Amos Lee. In-between all that, 2 shows back at home opening for Jesse Harris at The Living Room. All fun. Check out the gigs page to see times and dates for all shows.
